Background

I worked as a User Experience Architect for a leading Telecommunications Company in Seattle. On the project I was responsible for creating and maintaining designs for a large application for the client. Among the tasks I did on this project were creating wireframes and interactive prototypes, conducting research, and documenting requirements in addition to regularly meeting with stakeholders, designers, researchers, product owners, and development teams.

I am under an NDA for this project, so I will show the process of creating my designs as well as what I learned from this role. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions on my work.

Team

I worked on a team of three designers including myself with a UX design lead. We worked with other designers, researchers, managers on the larger UX team on a daily basis.

Our team worked to create pixel perfect wireframes and consistent experiences for all of our interfaces (mobile, tablet, desktop, and large breakpoint).

Process

My process involved these key steps, which I used as a general guideline for how I worked on projects from conception to completion.

Define

Design

Research

QA

Develop

Define

I worked with Product owners and managers to define the requirements for each project I worked on.

Design

I created initial designs based on the outlined requirements. Often there were several iterations of design based on research and new requirements or updates that were needed.

Research

I set up meetings with my assigned researcher for a project on a weekly basis to touch base and discuss how we could best conduct research for each project. I created prototypes and mockups for them to use.

QA

Before handoff to our development teams I would QA other designers work making sure to check for common mistakes like spacing, colors, and fonts.

Develop

The final step was handing off to the development teams. Before this step during my design process I would touch base with the dev team if I had any questions on the technical feasibility of my designs.

What I learned

This was my first role working for Accenture, and my first designer role so I learned a ton on this project. I was able to learn wireframing and prototyping tools and develop my proficiency in them over time. Working with other experienced designers meant I was able to get great guidance and feedback on my designs and learn new skills.

I would say some of my biggest takaways are how important collaboration is in the design of a product and the true necessity of understanding your users and their needs in the process of designing.
